South meets North in Korea

Maybe it's just me but this meeting between the South and North Korea leaders seems a bit staged. I've already said how crazy I this Kim Jong-il is. It seems he stages these acts of good will so he can gain more aid from foreign countries. Could this be yet another ploy witch will lead to no change? And as far as the South Korean leader goes it seems he might be trying to cement some sort of legacy before he leaves office. I don't think anything bad can come from this meeting but it seems likely that nothing good will come either.

I do see how people might be able to say that these two leaders' meeting might be a little suspicious. Even so, I think that the media and world politics as a whole want this to happen in some shape or form. The two nations are still seperate and hostile but it is definitley a step in the right direction to becoming more friendly towards each other. When I visited Korea, south side that is, the North Koreans tested a missile. It was a scary moment for all Southerners, and the whole city of Seoul was in a state of panic. It turns out there was nothing to worry about. Although these things happen, I don't think there will be any conflict amongst the Koreas for hundreds of years. More aid from other countries may come for North Korea, but still through rigorous inspection processes and world media, this forces Kim Jong-Il to remain semi-honest in what he does in office.
