The Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama was denounced this week by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. This headline was utterly shocking to me, as the Dalai Lama is supposed to be about taking peaceful measures to ensure a better life for yourself and those around you. To hear that the Dalai Lama was denounced by a country's leader raises an eyebrow to what could drive a country to denounce such a popular peaceful, well regarded individual. Chinese Premier Wen believes that the Dalai Lama's followers purposely set up violent attacks in China. I am not sure if the Premier is saying this to save face or if it is a total lie, however, if it turns out that it is true that the Dalai Lama's followers provoked such a massacre in China, then he is to be looked at differently in my eyes, not as the once oh so powerful, peace by all means man.

I think this is interesting as well. I am surprised that things have not smoothed over between the Tibetans and the Chinese. Although this used to be such a large issue of late it has defiantly taken a back seat to many issues the world has been presented with today.

I am pretty sure that this is not the first time that the Dalai Lama has been denounced by China's leaders. Since the beginning of the conflict between Tibet and China, starting in 1950? I believe, the Dalai Lama was considered to be trouble for China and it's goals of controling Tibet. The Dalai Lama eventually had to flee to India in 1959, and he has pretty much been considered an enemy of the state ever since. I think that anything that the Chinese leaders have to say about the Dalai Lama should be taken with a grain of salt. They are not exactly neutral third parties in the matter. I also don't think that the Dalai Lama should be blamed for the violence due to the fact that China has repressed and taken Tibet against its will for so many years. I think it's about time that they rose up against China's injustice.
